Matt Hardy Hospitalised

Matt Hardy has been rushed to a North Carolina emergency room after he fell in his home.

This incident comes days after Matt Hardy was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving after crashing his Corvette into a tree and was subsequently fired from TNA.

(Matt Hardy's Mugshot from his DWI arrest.)

Matt posted a concerning YouTube video after his release from the Police Station where he pans the camera around his trashed home breathing heavily and slurring his speech. He references his car crash during the video before signing off with the sentence:"I wish I could explain, but I can't. I'm afraid of what's going to happen next."

We will update you on Hardy's situation as more information becomes available.

Night of Champions Preview (Raw Deal Card)

A Night You Will Never Forget! Don't miss the one night when every championship will be on the line. Night of Champions kicks off September 18th 2011, let's have a look at some of the matches that might unfold.

WWE Championship: Alberto Del Rio vs John Cena

John Cena earned the Number #1 Contender shot on RAW which means that we will likely see Cena vs Del Rio at Night of Champions. But will it be a fair fight? Will anyone else get involved?

World Heavyweight Championship: Randy Orton vs Mark Henry

The unstoppable Mark Henry is the Number #1 Contender for the World Title, with Henry leaving a path of destruction, will the Viper be able to put a stop to his wrath?

CM Punk vs Kevin Nash

Nash cost Punk the Number #1 Contendership after he distracted him on RAW, surely the Voice of the Voiceless will be heard loud and clear when he seeks revenge on Nash? But will Triple H soon show his true colours?

WWE Intercontinental Championship: Cody Rhodes vs Ezikiel Jackson

After beating Big Zeke to win the Intercontinental Championship on Smackdown! Cody Rhodes will surely have a target on his back, one that Jackson will surely be aiming for.

WWE United States Champtionship: Dolph Ziggler vs Jack Swagger

Vickie Guerrero has offered her services to Jack Swagger, much to the dislike of Ziggler, with both men vying for Vickie's attention, it looks like there's only one way to prove who deserves it more. Excuse Me!

WWE Divas Championship: Kelly Kelly vs Eve Torres

This one I am least certain about, however the friendship between Kelly and Eve is getting closer, but being friends with the champ doesn't win you the title, I wonder if Eve is soon going to realise this?

WWE Tag Team Championships: Tag Team Turmoil

In similar vein to last year's Tag Team Turmoil it would lead me to believe we will see a repeat this year, with the new team of Kofi and Bourne winning the titles, The Uso's wanting gold, Mike Mc & David O entitled to a rematch and the formation of Truth & Miz's conspiracy friendship...I expect to see these 4 teams duke it out at NOC.

Your thoughts?

Raw Deal Reaction:

A somewhat jumbled Raw, the crowd again was hot for Punk and he is really getting himself over as a face now. It's really sad to see Miz relegated to such trivial parts of the show and aligning with Truth looks like a step in the wrong direction. Also the whole Punk/Nash storyline is losing momentum quickly, CM Punk is keeping me interested but for how much longer? As for Cena once again being in the title picture I can only echo Punk's words...is this a re-run?

Evolution of a Face

In light of CM Punk's recent surge of popularity with the WWE fans, it would appear that a new WWE Face is born. This feature looks at the history of WWE's biggest faces and how CM Punk's current style is breaking the mold.

Let's first look at WWE's first HUGE face, the Immortal Hulk Hogan. When Hulk first started in the WWE he was very green displaying limited wrestling ability wrestling under the monicker 'The Fabulous' Hulk Hogan. While Hulk's in-ring ability was limited, Hulk had great mic skills and a personality which came across well on TV.

The ultimate good guy, wholesome to the core, Hulk was always preaching that we should 'eat our vitamins' and 'say our prayers', to any parents watching the show, he was the type of person you wanted your children to look up to and as a result of the popularity boom due to the birth of Hulkamania, it was very rare we would see the Hulkster lose a match and on the rare occasion that he did, it would usually be to the Heel cheating or taking an unfair advantage.

In a nutshell, the Hulk Hogan era was great for the WWE, it allowed parents to feel safe knowing their kids had someone they could look up to, Hulk was a cash cow by selling the most merchandise and he was quick to become a household name even branching out into movies and commercials. However, after a certain point Hulk decided to make the jump over to WCW leaving Vince without a mega star to push as the top babyface. In step - Bret 'The Hitman' Hart.

Bret was similar to Hulk in many ways, he was very wholesome, always wanting to be a hero for kids and be someone honourable they could look up to. Bret was never the best on the microphone, he was good but he wasn't the type of character to be really energetic and flexing his muscles, Bret was always more of a laid back, cool type of guy which was polar opposite from Hulk. The biggest difference between the two however was the fact that Bret was the best wrestler in the world, the 'Excellence of Execution', Bret was a shoot wrestler with great submission skills and was so technically gifted he could put on a great match with anybody and make them look good.

Bret might not have sold as much merchandise as Hulk, be as big of a household name, or be starring in movies (unless you want to include his guest appearance in The Simpsons) but his wrestling ability was unparallelled having some of the best matches of all time. Bret did a great job of carrying the WWE on his back at a time when all of Vince's top talent was jumping ship to the opposition and beating the WWE in ratings. Carrying a company like WWE on your back is hard enough to do without fierce competition let alone when the company is crumbling around you.

However the wrestling audience began to change, tired of the tried and true method of good guy vs bad guy, the fans began to grow unrest with the good guy and thus the anti-hero was born. The anti-hero who started it all was 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin.

Stone Cold was born at the King of the Ring, having just defeated Jake Roberts in the finals who was using a bible-bashing gimmick at the time, Austin uttered the phrase 'you talk about your psalms, you talk about your John 3:16, well Austin 3:16 says I just whipped your ass'. This catchphrase was one of the most known in WWE history and instantly launched Austin into the spotlight and into top selling merchandise territory.

Austin, who was meant to be a heel began a feud with Hart who was at the time the company's biggest face. It was at Wrestlemania 13 where we saw a very rare double-turn. After Hart locked Austin in the sharpshooter, who was bleedong perfusely from his face, Austin passed out. Hart who was unsatisfied by the fact Austin never tapped decided to unleash further punishment on him by attacking him with a steel chair, this made Austin a face for never giving up and Hart a heel for attacking his foe while he was down.

Austin was a complete anti-hero, he never did anything wholesome, never did anything good and he was certainly not the type of character you would want your kids looking up to. But the thing with Austin was that he tapped into everyone's naughty side. Deep inside every one of us, there have been times when we'd like to kick our boss' ass, when we didn't want to obey the rules, when we just plain wanted to raise some hell - and Austin did that on a daily basis, much to the admiration of fans.

Eventually Austin's injuries got the better of him and along with the second biggest face 'The Rock', Austin left the WWE. I could include people like The Undertaker and Triple H in this column, however the focus is on the WWE's biggest faces - a void which the WWE had for a long time leading right up to John Cena.

The comparisons between Cena and Hogan are made constantly and in all honesty there is good reason. Cena has the five moves of doom, and limited ring work - like Hulk Hogan, he has a great physique and is a strong guy - like Hulk Hogan, he is charasmatic and great on the Mic - like Hulk Hogan, he is idolised by kids and sells the most merchandise - like Hulk Hogan and he is a role model for kids telling them to never back down - again, like Hulk Hogan.

It would appear that History has repeated itself and we have gone almost full circle, problem is that the fans are still the same as they were in the Attitude Era and frankly, the superman full fledged hero doesn't work in today's current product, yet the WWE have stuck with this angle for a long time to the point where Cena is forced down the throats of the Attitude Era fans.

Never before has the company's top face recieved such a mixed reaction. The crowd has always been a little mixed for Cena but in recent weeks, you can really start to hear more boos than cheers and it seems that the one guy who is taking those cheers for himself is CM Punk.

Unlike Punk following this cycle by being a Bret Hart character, instead he is a mix of both Bret and Stone Cold. He has great wrestling ability and is a technical and submission wrestler a la Bret Hart, however he is anti-establishment, he refuses to follow the rules and be a corporate slave like Austin. Combine this with one of the fastest selling T-Shirts of all time (so much so that they are currently out of stock and having to make more) it would appear that CM Punk is the new kid on the block.

Punk appeals to all of the adult males who are tired of Cena, cuts promos like no other and has really brought wrestling into the present with his use of social avenues and the internet to further this. For the first time in a long time, WWE has made people want to tune in to see what is going to happen, how far Punk will go this week and it makes for some great TV.

Was Cena as big as Hogan? No, he wasn't. Will Punk ever reach the heights of The Hitman or The Rattlesnake? Not likely, but for the first time in a long while we now have two Tweeners with Cena the top face for Kids and the Women and Punk the top face for the Men, talk about breaking the mould.

Who knows where this storyline is going, who knows what is to come? The fact that we don't is the reason why I am looking forward to Monday Nights now more than ever!

Raw Deal Reaction: Hmm, the match wasn't too bad but I think they really oversold Kelly Kelly, she doesn't have the ability in the ring yet make it believable that she could dominate Beth Phoenix. Overall the match was solid.

The crowd is going crazy. Del Rio retreats to the stage with the WWE Title as Punk tries to recover in the ring. SummerSlam goes off the air with the new WWE Champion Alberto Del Rio celebrating on top of the ramp.

OVERALL REACTION: A decent PPV, considering it was one of the big 4 it wasn't the best but as far as WWE PPVs go nowerdays this one was one of the better ones. Not sure about the involvement of Edge or Nash but it does bring about a lot of questions.

Did Triple H have involvement in this through his Cliq days? Did Kevin Nash take offense that CM Punk never replied on Twitter? Is Nash now going to be Del Rio's bodyguard? Will we find out on RAW? Who knows!

WWE Summerslam 2011: Predictions

It's almost time for the Hottest Night in the Year, WWE SUMMERSLAM! With only five announced matches.

Daniel Bryan vs Wade Barrett

Oh how the mighty have fallen, the one time leader of Nexus and arch rival of John Cena, Wade Barrett isn't setting the world a light over on Smackdown. After 'The Corre' it doesn't seem like Barrett has a lot of direction at the moment and going up against the current Money in the Bank can only make me put this one down as a win for the Vegan "Nerd":

Prediction: Daniel Bryan

Sheamus vs Mark Henry

As with Wade Barrett, I miss seeing Sheamus on Monday Nights, it's good to see after the terrible King Sheamus storyline it looks as though he is finally being used in the right way, although seeing Sheamus as a face is a bit strange to me. If the WWE do this the right way they can really put over Sheamus by beating the wrecking machine that is Mark Henry. Do I think that will happen? I'm not so sure. There are plenty of ways this match can go, there could be a potential interference from Kane or Show but I'm going to hope WWE ceases this opportunity to put the Celtic Warrior back up to Main Event/Upper Mid Card Status.

Prediction: Sheamus

Kelly Kelly vs Beth Phoenix

I personally don't see this match lasting too long, it's not realistic to have Kelly look even slightly threatening here, I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that Kelly will take some punishment and Beth will get cocky until Kelly almost pulls a fast one, however Beth will demolish Kelly for the win. If WWE wanted to really shake up the Diva Division I think they could have Natalya come down to "congratulate" Beth before turning on her and making an open challenge for the Divas title.

Prediction: Beth Phoenix

Christian vs Randy Orton (No Holds Barred)

This has been a decent feud but I think it's coming to an end sooner rather than later, with this match being No Holds Barred you have to give the Viper the advantage, I think we will see the Viper strike and once again the belt will change hands.

Prediction: Randy Orton

John Cena vs CM Punk (Special Referee: Triple H)

For this one I can honestly say, I have ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA, and that's what I love about this feud. It is such an interesting concept to not insult the fans, fact is most adult males dislike Cena because he is disgustingly good, the modern day man doesn't necessarily root for the hero, and Punk is the modern day man. I think there HAS to be some involvement from the COO in this match, but the question is, does Triple H screw Cena? Or does Triple H screw Punk? I'm not sure what kind of reaction each of them will get.

If Triple H screws Cena then suddenly that makes Punk a bad guy again, but if HHH screws Punk then that makes Cena a bad guy. I can honestly say I am really looking forward to this match!

Prediction: ???

    RAW Preview (August 2nd 2011)

    Punk's Proclamation

Live on Raw tonight, CM Punk will address the WWE Universe for the first time since returning with his WWE Title one week earlier. Plus, WWE COO Triple H will make a decision regarding the WWE Title controversy.

So, RAW is upon us again and we await the fallout of last week's Surprise return of CM Punk, new theme song and all. We find ourselves in quite an interesting situation this week as there are effectively TWO WWE Champions - but who is the rightful champion?

Triple H is promising to make a decision regarding the title picture, but I ask, what descision is there to be made? The champion is CM Punk, he won the belt at MITB and has yet to be defeated. You can have as many championship tournaments as you like but as Ric Flair said, if you want to be the man, you have to beat the man.

Let's face it, the decision is going to be Cena vs Punk at Summerslam to crown the rightful champion, but I for one hope that we see something a bit more interesting and unexpected than the obvious. Sure, Cena is owed a rematch due to the rematch clause, but can there be a rematch if the wrestler you are due to fight hasn't re-signed a contract? It will be interesting to see how WWE approach this, tune in tonight to see what goes down!

    Countdown to Summerslam

    Countdown to Summerslam
    By The Krow
    Monday July 25th 2011

So the biggest bash of the summer is less than three weeks away and who knows what we have in store? For the third consecutive year Summerlam comes live from the Staple Centre in LA on Sunday 14th August and it promises to go off with a bang!

With the recent CM Punk angle coupled with the WWE Championship tournament, coupled with the new Triple H Era, the WWE are certainly not showing us all of their cards - and it's about time too! In my honest opinion, one of the 'Big 4' - Summerslam has been rather lackluster in recent years and with the growing list of injuries mixed with the lack of major stars, I thought this year would be one of the worst in a long time...but I think I just might be wrong.

Let's look at what we could potentially have in store this summer:

    1. CM Punk - Love him or hate him, this guy is one of the best in the business and his current storyline is up there with some of the most creative things the WWE has done in years. There is so much intrigue surrounding the title situation, whether Punk has signed a new deal, when he will next make an appearance and in my opinion, I don't think we will see the Chicago Made Punk until Summerslam. The WWE have really done something special as of late by incorporating the storylines into social media and the internet and it really is having a positive effect. Punk showing up at Comic-Con and cutting a promo was something special and I think we can expect to see a lot more appearances from Punk through a lot of avenues with a culmination at Summerlam by screwing up the Main Event (which I think could be Del Rio vs R-Truth vs Cena vs Rey) making sure that Punk is STILL the rightful champ as Summerslam goes off the air.

    2. Triple H - We're about to enter a new era, the era of 'The Game'. I don't think Triple H will crown a new champ on RAW, in fact I don't think we will see a champ crowned until Summerslam. I'm not a gambling man, but I think one of the King of Kings' first orders of business will be to re-sign punk, so I can expect to see a lot of Triple H 'negotiating' with Punk, perhaps we will see Punk appear via satellite with the title? Who knows? But I think we will definitely be in for an altercation with H and Punk at Summerlam.

    3. Orton vs Christian - After the terrible ending to the MITB title match, I think the story arc here will see Orton recapture the title in a No DQ match or finally 'Beat' his anger issues by winning clean at Summerslam.

    4. Divas - Let's face it, it's Summerlam - chances are there will be some bikini clad divas at some point of the card and eye candy is eye candy right? On the Diva front, the Bellas have run their course in my opinion so the next logical step is to see Beth Phoenix turn on Kelly Kelly in the next week or two culminating in a Divas title match at Summerlam.

    5. The Miz/Riley - This feud will need to be finished before it runs really dry and I can see Summerlam being the last blowout.

    6. Dolph/Kofi - This feud has real potential. I think we are looking at two future champions right here. Kofi needs to improve his Mic skills and he will be right there, Dolph I feel is already Main Event worthy and if these two continue to have the opportunity to showcase their talents in an extended program I can see them making the step up sooner rather than later.

Well that's it for now, I might be way off the mark with my predictions but to be honest I really hope that I am and that WWE continue to surprise me!
