Night of Champions: Predictions

WWE Tag Team Championships
AirBoom vs Miz/R-Truth

With the hope of somehow reigniting the tag division I can see the titles change hands tonight.

RawDealPrediction: Miz/R-Truth

WWE Intercontinental Championship
Cody Rhodes vs Ted DiBiase

Since this contest had such little build and hype, it makes no sense for the title to change hands here.

RawDealPrediction: Cody Rhodes

WWE Divas Championship
Kelly Kelly vs Beth Phoenix

Let's consider the fact Phoenix could snap Kelly like a twig coupled with the fact Phoenix is in her home town, I think we are going to see a new champ crowned.

RawDealPrediction: Beth Phoenix

WWE United States Championship
Dolph Ziggler vs Jack Swagger vs John Morrison vs Alex Riley

We are bound to see the Ziggler/Swagger feud explode in this match which will cost both of them the belt, I think things might go a little A-ry!

RawDealPrediction: Alex Riley

World Heavyweight Championship
Randy Orton vs Mark Henry

Mark Henry is on a warpath at the moment, but I still don't think now will be his time, it might take two or three RKOs but I think the title will be retained.

RawDealPrediction: Randy Orton

WWE Championship
Alberto Del Rio vs John Cena

We all know that Cena will regain the title before Wrestlemania rolls around, but I think (and hope) that we might not see that happen until the Royal Rumble. With The Rock expected back at Survivor Series, I don't think Cena will be focussing on the title over the next month, so I'm going to go with interference costing Cena.

RawDealPrediction: Alberto Del Rio

CM Punk vs Triple H

I'd say if you don't want to see spoilers look away now, only that pretty much everyone knows that Kevin Nash is going to make an appearence tonight. Question is, will he seek revenge on Punk for his comments? Or get revenge on Triple H for firing him? Assuming the WWE doesn't intend on pissing off all of it's viewers by having Triple H pull out of the fight (backstage incident, urgent business etc) and Nash replacing him, I'm going to have to say Nash interference will end up costing The Game.

RawDealPrediction: CM Punk

Rock & Cena to Join Forces?

The Rock has added fuel to the fire by uploading an image to his Twitter account today, all-but-confirming an in-ring involvement at Survivor Series.

If The Rock's picture is indeed accurate, it looks like The Rock and John Cena will be teaming up at Survivor Series just a few months before they are opponents at WrestleMania 28 in a one-on-one match.

The graphic reads, "The Rock and John Cena join forces...Never Before. Never Again."

Will Cena and The Rock team up before they turn attention to each other? Tune into Survivor Series this November to find out!

Punk says that doesn't mean he likes Triple H and knows Triple H doesn't like him either. Punk says people have told him all the horrible things Triple H says behind his back. Punk is also a good judge of character and can see it all over Triple H's face. Punk goes on and the crowd chants his name. Punk talks about change and says nothing has changed since Vince McMahon left. Punk says Triple H is just as bad. Punk says Vince and Triple H believe that a guy who looks like him don't belong in a ring with a guy who looks like The Game. Punk says Triple H and Vince have had this weird bodybuilder fetish. Punk says guys who fit Triple H's image get 10 times the opportunity. Triple H cuts him off and brings up Shawn Michaels, Mick Foley, Bret Hart and Rey Mysterio as top stars who wouldn't be described as bodybuilders. Triple H says if Punk wants to use the idea of that bodybuilder theory as an excuse for his failures, then go ahead. The crowd chants for Punk some more.

Triple H says his opinion doesn't matter and Punk needs to worry about the fan opinions. Triple H says Punk thought he was being held back for the first six years when he wasn't getting reactions like that. Triple H says when you win the fan opinions, you get what you want. Triple H says you won't have to make calls to get on a 7 Eleven cup, 7 Eleven will call WWE and demand he be on it. Punk responds and asks where his WWE ice cream bars are? The crowd pops at this.

Punk tells a story from 2006 before his first pay-per-view at Survivor Series where he was on a team with DX. Punk says the people in Philadelphia weren't chanting for DX, they were chanting... the crowd starts chanting his name. Punk says the story doesn't have a happy ending because that was the first time he grabbed the imaginary brass ring and went it went nowhere. Punk would rather be hated for what he is as opposed to loved for what he's not. Triple H brings up that Punk has been in main events, won Money in the Bank and world titles. Triple H puts over Cena big time and the crowd boo's. Triple H says the fact remains true - Cena sells out arenas all over the world and he has done it on his own, by winning the fans over. Triple H says Punk needs to worry about the fans opinions all the time. Triple H says sometimes he looks at a guy and doesn't think he will be anything but that guy turns out to be a John Cena. Triple H says all Punk has to do is win the fans over. Punk asks Triple H if he is hearing this. Don't tell him he has to win the fans over. Triple H says today they are chanting his name, last year - not so much. Triple H says Punk is just now getting the people. Punk says he has earned everything he's got in the last 6 years. Punk says he busted his ass and sacrificed for this business. Triple H goes on and says this isn't business, it's personal because Punk turned it into a personal issue. Triple H says Punk won't step in the ring with the muli-time World Champion, not the COO, not the business man and not The Game on Sunday. He will step into the ring with a man, a man that will kick his ass.

Punk says he is dead wrong and this isn't about John Cena. Punk says he is the best. Punk says he's going to kick Triple H's ass also, pin him 1-2-3 and make him go to sleep. Punk says it's going to be so satisfying to him. Punk says this is Phil Brooks talking to Paul Levesque. Punk goes on about why it's going to be satisfying to beat Triple H's ass when the mic gets cut out. Triple H tells Punk to say it to him. Triple H gets the mic going again. Punk starts talking and it's cut out again. Triple H demands a mic and asks a producer what the hell is going on. Punk decks Triple H with the mic and he goes down. Punk throws a crotch chop at Triple H as the crowd pops and he leaves the ring to his name being chanted. Punk walks up the ramp smiling as Triple H recovers in the ring and RAW goes off the air.

Raw Deal Reaction:

There were many things good about this week's RAW and many things bad. Alberto Del Rio's character really irritates me, so opening the show put me in a bad frame of mind already, Bret Hart comes out and reminds me of the glory days of wrestling, sure he botched parts of his promo but who cares it's Bret frickin Hart. Then we get the Cena show *yawn* and Laurinaitis comes out *cocks pistol*.

Ziggler is a great talent as is Morrison so these two were great, the Swagger/Ziggler rivalry over Guerrero is pretty decent.

The Miz was AWESOME, even by taking the WWE cover off the microphone and putting it back on upside down gives his character so much likability. Miz and Kofi was also a solid match, again I think the two are very good talents and enjoy seeing them perform, though I'm still not convinced about the Miz/Truth partnership.

AGAIN, we see Lawler on a SUPERSHOW - it quite frankly pisses me off to see talent go to waste in favour of a Lawler match, frankly it also took away from Sheamus so it is doubly frustrating.

The Cena/Hart vs Del Rio/Rodriguez match felt like filler to me and also Del Rio came out of it looking super weak, the last thing you want before a title match.

Kelly Kelly vs Vickie was painful to watch! Sure, Kelly is stunning but fact is she's not got sufficient ring ability and by having a match with Vickie Guerrero before defending the title really is pointless, why not continue the feud with Phoenix to actually "build" to something?

Orton vs Rhodes was okay, poor for a main event in my opinion and I still can't put Henry over.

The final segment saved it for me, oh thank god for great promo skills. Even though there never seemed to be a point to the conversation at all, with Triple H constantly saying the fans put you over...the fact we got to see even ounces of spark saved the show, though it was still really poor considering it is a supershow and the last RAW before the PPV. Hmmmmm.

Raw Deal Reaction:

Why build up to something happening between Kevin Nash, CM Punk and Triple H and then decide to "fire" Kevin Nash? Even Stevie Wonder can see there's going to be some sort of Nash involvement in Night of Champions now! Also another fantastic idea to combine Raw and Smackdown starts...and then have Jerry 'The King' Lawler wrestle, makes total sense. I like the Ziggler/Swagger feud though it's not really being actioned to its full potential and to have Miz now teaming with R-Truth for the tag titles after having main evented Mania last year is rediculous. Add to the mix the fact that I can't stand either Cena or Del Rio results in a completely lackluster Raw. WWE, what ARE you thinking?

Broadcasting & Cable, a TV industry publication, quickly picked up on news of the TV announcement. B&C wrote: "No launch date was given in the promos, rather it just said the network would be coming in 2012. The ads included a mix of classic (think Andre The Giant) and current wrestling clips."

Shortly after the announcement, WWE issued a news release on their website promoting the Network:

As millions of WWE Universe members witnessed while watching WWE Raw SuperShow Monday night, something big is coming to WWE that will change not just the squared circle, but all of entertainment.

It’s the WWE Network. And, as the world learned this week, it’s on its way in 2012. All we know is that it’ll be a brand new day for watching the greatest matches, moments and Superstars in sports-entertainment history.

Not sure where the Old World Order is going but I'm glad that we don't have to see Nash wrestle on a WWE PPV again, though saving Punk and Triple H for Mania seems like a much better fit.

WWE Raw Preview - 29/08/2011

In the middle of two PPVs and coming off a Raw episode that slipped below a 3.0 rating, WWE is re-advertising answers to big questions in hopes of bringing the rating above a 3.0. This is heading into next Monday's Labor Day edition of Raw, which is followed by Raw going head-to-head with NFL Week 1 on ESPN's Monday Night Football.

No matches or segments are officially advertised for Raw. TV commercials airing on USA Network are focused on potential resolution to the ongoing power struggle surrounding Triple H, Kevin Nash, John Laurinaitis, C.M. Punk, and McMahon Family.

WWE is advertising follow-up on the feud between WWE champion Alberto Del Rio and John Cena heading to Night of Champions in September. Cena is expected to have promo time to respond to Del Rio's end-of-the-show attack last week on Raw.

The feud between Punk and Nash will likely continue after Nash cost Punk the #1 contender match on last week's Raw. WWE will likely set up a Punk vs. Nash match based on their current feud.

Stars from the Smackdown brand will be part of Raw to promote Tuesday's live Smackdown episode. The BOK Center in Tulsa, Okla. is officially advertising World Hvt. champion Randy Orton, Christian, Mark Henry, Sheamus, and Sin Cara.

Let's hope we get some clarity on the Punk/Nash/Trips/Steph/Johnny angle and hopefully it wont result in Nash v Punk, is that too much to ask?

We'll find out soon enough!
